– The infection continues to decline in Norway. We now have a better overview of the spread of the mutated virus, says Health Minister Bent Høie (H).
The closure of 15 municipalities in the east around Nordre Follo and 10 municipalities in the border area has lasted a week.
The strict measures that have been introduced to stop the spread of the mutated virus will continue until Tuesday, February 2.
Wednesday Relief
As of Wednesday, February 3, the measures for the central-eastern municipalities will be modified and will include fewer municipalities.
In the municipalities of Nordre Follo, Oslo and Ås, which the Government calls Ring 1, the next replacement will come.

It is open for children and young people under the age of 20 to participate in organized sports and leisure activities.

Individual stores may open, but shopping malls and department stores will remain closed.

Restaurants may reopen, with continuous show stops.

Ring 2 will consist of: Asker, Bærum, Enebakk, Frogn, Indre Østfold, Lillestrøm, Lunner, Lørenskog, Moss, Nesodden, Nittedal, Rælingen, Vestby and Våler.
At the same time, the following municipalities will be removed from Ring 2: Aurskog-Høland, Drammen, Horten, Lier, Marker, Rakkestad, Råde and Skiptvet. For these municipalities, national measures and local regulations will apply if they have been adopted.
The national measures will last until mid-February, Høie says.
Relief for children and youth
At the press conference, the government came with some relief for the children and youth. Schools and kindergartens in Ring 1 and Ring 2 municipalities now return to the yellow action level.
– I am very happy that we can loosen the measures a bit and then prioritize children, young people and people’s workplaces. It is important that we further reduce the infection and maintain control. So winter and spring can be easier for everyone, says Education Minister Guri Melby (V).
In the case of universities, colleges, and vocational schools, facilities remain closed to students and teaching, and planned events will be postponed or held digitally. But now exceptions can be made for students who rely entirely on access to rooms for experiments and skills training so as not to fall behind in their studies.
