The government introduces a separate scheme for parents who have exhausted the quota of days of care, if the children’s school or kindergarten is closed.
– We are introducing extra care days, or sick child days as most people know it, in case of local outbreaks, if schools and kindergartens have to close, the Minister of Labor and Social Inclusion said on Tuesday Torbjørn Røe Isaksen (H) at a press conference.
– At the local level, it may be necessary to close entire schools. This may mean that some parents have used up the new quota that was introduced on July 1. Therefore, the government is introducing a separate scheme in which parents receive days of care when needed, as long as the quota has been exhausted and the school is closed, Isaksen said.
Right to care days extended this spring and tightened this summer. All parents have received a full annual fee for the last semester of 2020 (July 1 to December 31). This quota must be exhausted first. If there are local outbreaks and closures after the quota is exhausted, parents receive several days of care.
– At the same time, it is important that both employers and employees are flexible in the situation we find ourselves in now. Many parents have the opportunity to work from home and even more have the opportunity to work more flexible hours. As many people as possible who can work from home should use it, says Isaksen.
