The government freezes taxes on emission vehicles

The Ministry of Finance tells NRK.

The government has decided that those who own an electric car must pay 2,000 kronor in annual installments starting next year. When this became known in connection with the state budget proposal, the government emphasized that taxes on gasoline cars must also be raised to make it at least as attractive to choose an electric car in the future.

But they have abandoned it after negotiations on the state budget with the Progress Party.

Une Bastholm in the Green Party (ODM) reacts.

– It is very serious that the government does not make the purchase and use of fossil cars more expensive. At the same time, they are slashing the benefits of the electric car by making it more expensive to own an electric car, she says.

Climate and Environment Minister Sveinung Rotevatn (V) believes that electric car owners can bear a tax increase of NOK 2,000 per year. He says that they did not get full support for all their wishes in the negotiations with Frp.

– I was very pleased with the state budget proposal presented by the government. So I think the result will not always be better when the Storting has to negotiate and agree on an agreement. But that’s life as a minority government. We do not have a majority and we cannot dictate what to do there. But I think the final sum has been good. Next year will be at least as attractive as buying a new electric car this year, he says.(Terms)Copyright Dagens Næringsliv AS and / or our suppliers.
