– The goal of changing the physical setting is to reduce the pressure of infection. This means that those who want and have the opportunity can stay where they have been during the Christmas holidays and avoid taking a plane, train or bus to travel back to campus, says Minister of Research and Higher Education Henrik Asheim (H) in a press release. .

According to Dagbladet, the decision to wait with physical education in universities, colleges and vocational schools was made by the government on Saturday.

The move comes after infection rates in Norway are rising again.

The final figures will not arrive until Wednesday. But as it stands now, the current week may have infection rates that are roughly at the same level as when the fall wave peaked in November, according to preliminary calculations presented by the National Institute of Public Health (NIPH). Saturday.

Asheim is aware that the measure is far from being implemented because students already paid a high price during the crown period.

– We do this to make spring better for everyone, he tells Dagbladet.

According to the newspaper, the new crown measures will be presented at a press conference on Sunday. It is not yet known what kind of measures are in question.
