On Sunday, the government presented the new measures that will run until January 18. Now they ask everyone to avoid having guests in the house. The advice is to wait 14 days with private visits, but to make exceptions for necessary home services and visits to people who are in the last stage of life.

Single people can visit or visit one or two regular friends or a permanent home. Children in kindergartens and primary schools can receive visits from their own cohort.

In addition, the prohibition of private gatherings of more than five people outside their own homes is introduced.

A national ban on serving alcohol in restaurants and events is also being introduced. The prohibitions will be included in the regulations and if you violate them, you will be fined.

– Now I ask that everyone join in an effort to prevent a new wave of infection, Solberg says in a press release.

The government’s measures come after the Norwegian Health Directorate issued new recommendations on Sunday to limit the rise in infection. It was VG who first mentioned that case.

These are the government tips:

  • The government is asking the nation’s upper secondary and upper secondary schools to follow the red action level in the infection control guide for the next two weeks.
  • All shopping centers and stores must introduce number restrictions and have access control.
  • Norwegians are asked to avoid all unnecessary travel both within and outside the country.
  • The government recommends postponing a series of organized indoor events

These are the measures that the Norwegian Health Directorate proposed to be evaluated at the national level during the next two weeks:

  • Maximum five people in private meeting
  • A maximum of ten people at an indoor event, but still 200 people where everyone in the audience sits in fixed seats.
  • Maximum 10 people on church walks in Christian denominations
  • National liquor ban

National measures will be regulated by regulations and will require a change in the regulations of the covid-19 regulation. The information appears in a note from the Norwegian Health Directorate to the government.

The Norwegian Directorate of Health also proposes specifying existing national advice and recommendations. The recommendations come as a result of the National Institute of Public Health expressing concern about the growing contagion to society in its risk assessments. They fear that the epidemic will spiral out of control in some municipalities and regions in January, as a result of a further spread of the infection in week 1 and week 2.

For sales in stores and outlets, it is recommended that municipalities consider asking them to postpone the sale until February. For gyms, bingo and swimming pools, a court order of closure is proposed, due to the high infection pressure.

Recommended tips for the population:

  • Avoid having guests in the house. Allow 14 days for private visits. Exceptions for necessary domestic services, etc. and live alone with 1-2 close friends.
  • Private events are postponed for 14 days, until January 18.
  • Leisure activities: The sport postpones the start of indoor training sessions, matches and tournaments until after January 18. This also applies to other leisure activities that bring together children and young people of different classes / cohorts.
  • Shopping centers are recommended to close until January 11 (grocery stores may be open) to avoid congestion in stores and common areas. At this point, there should be a dialogue with the sector to assess what the appropriate measures may be.
