The New York Post on Wednesday published images of the emails, said to be part of Hunter Biden’s correspondence. The newspaper writes that it received the hard drive with the emails from Trump’s attorney, Rudy Giuliani.
The disk is said to be from a laptop that had been in a computer store in the state of Delaware for a year, where it was turned in for repair but was never recovered.
The special story about the discovery is said to be one of the reasons the case is now being investigated as a possible Russian-influenced operation. It has not been verified whether the emails were forged or obtained in the event of a data breach.
Facebook and Twitter took unusual steps to stop the sharing of the New York Post story, causing President Donald Trump and other Republicans to rage. Twitter referred, among other things, to new and strict rules against material obtained in the event of data breaches.
However, after criticism, Twitter quickly relaxed the rules, declaring late Thursday that the company will no longer block information that has emerged from hacking, unless it is published by the hacker himself.
On Thursday, it also emerged that US intelligence warned Donald Trump that Giuliani was influenced by a campaign launched by Russian intelligence.
The Washington Post writes that Giuliani, among other things, has openly met with Andrei Derkach, a pro-Russian member of the National Assembly of Ukraine. US intelligence came out in August and described Derkach as part of Russia’s efforts to influence the US presidential election.
