The fall of Ajer’s bag in the national team – VG

A review of the VG exchange shows a very small “stool” for Celtic’s cap: in the last ten international matches he has played at an average of 4.10, about a degree and a half below the level at which Ajer was after his first ten games.

In his 20th A-national match and his first with Ståle Solbakken, he took the blame for 0-2. It happened after a corner kick and was described by national team coach Solbakken as a “disaster” after the game.

– I have to be better at set pieces. We need to be better at the other two goals. He’s too weak, a self-deprecating Ajer told TV 2.

Ajer was also out of position before the 0-1 goal, as were his fellow defenders Julian Ryerson and Stian Gregersen.

– The conclusion behind this is that we conceded three megalette goals, says Solbakken about the match against VG.

– How do you think Ajer’s baptism of fire was?

– He had periods when it went well, and then there were situations when it didn’t go well, Solbakken responds.

– In situations where things are not going well, it should be the case that they cover each other. He and others suffered at times. We can not hide under a chair that we concede three goals, says Solbakken.

The 22-year-old was also involved in setbacks against Austria in the Nations League (1-2) and in the failed playoff at the Serbian Euro Cup last fall.

In Solbakken’s first match against Gibraltar, Ajer was placed on the bench, after the national team coach bluntly said that he should bounce back from the Scottish league.

Solbakken: – Too thin

Norway has for many years been challenged to stop and, very often, has ruled over who has the chance. Against Gibraltar it was Marius Lode and Stefan Strandberg.

Solbakken justified the choice of the two different blocking duos with the fact that against Gibraltar Norway expected to have a lot of ball, while against Turkey it was all about blocking Burak Yilmaz.

Solbakken singled out Ajer’s closer closer, Gregersen, as a bright spot.
