The mother is accused of killing her two sons. At the same time, it is said that she emptied her savings account.
– We are aware that you deliberately emptied the children’s bank accounts in connection with his murder. We have requested that it be investigated as misappropriation of funds by the children, and the police have confirmed that they have seized the money, lawyer John Christian Elden tells VG.
He is the assistant attorney for the father of the two deceased children.
– We can hardly speculate on the reasons for the embezzlement, but the action itself is probably central both in terms of its sanity and the planning of the killings, continues Elden.

Information for VG: the mother pointed to the father as a murderer
It was on the morning of July 19 that firefighters moved into an apartment in Lørenskog after receiving notification of a possible fire. When the firefighters entered the house, they were greeted by a terrible sight:
Two dead children and a woman apparently seriously injured.
Attempts were made to revive the children, but it soon became clear that their lives could not be saved.
When the police arrived at the scene, the information and statements of the mother pointed in the direction that the father could be the aggressor, VG reports. The mother was found with cut wounds and sent to Ullevål hospital.
During the morning, the father himself appeared on the scene in Lørenskog. It is said that he later explained that he was going to pick up the children, but was instead arrested and charged with murder.
However, the murder charge against the father was dropped shortly thereafter, because information from the investigation pointed to the mother as the culprit.

Autopsy report: children were strangled
Police believe the mother accused of murder strangled the two minors overnight or early in the morning, VG reported.
– I do not want to go into these aspects of the investigation now, but I can confirm that we have also asked the police to investigate his attempt to blame him as a deliberately false accusation. We have received confirmation that it is, and then it is natural for us to wait for the result, says Elden.
Police attorney Sonika Sharma-Sundheim in the Eastern Police District informs VG in an email that she does not want to comment on specific investigative steps for the sake of the ongoing investigation.
– The case is under investigation, the documents are conditioned and subject to confidentiality. My client cooperates with the police and court-appointed experts, says the defendant’s mother, lawyer Gunhild Lærum, to VG.

Serious message of concern
Fall 2019: Romerike police were contacted by the father of the family about a statement the mother should have made, according to a child welfare note. The police considered the statement so serious that they decided to send a report of concern to the child welfare service.
According to Romerikes Blad, the child welfare service in Rælingen municipality, which was the mother of the then-home municipality of two, spent just over three weeks investigating and closing the case.

The newspaper has also written that one or more meetings were held between the parties during these three weeks. After the mother was charged with double homicide, the child welfare service itself has asked the county governor to investigate the follow-up of the case.
– I am aware that the child welfare service in Rælingen in this case has reported to the county governor and requested that it be investigated whether they handled the police report of concern against the mother sufficiently well, says Elden.
The assisting attorney does not wish to conduct any further evaluation until the investigation has been completed.
– We can confirm that a report of concern was sent to the child welfare service in the fall of 2019, but out of consideration of the duty of confidentiality, we cannot comment further on this, writes police attorney Sharma-Sundheim in the email to VG.

Brynhild Belsom, manager of the family and health unit in Rælingen municipality, tells VG that the municipality does not comment on individual cases without the consent of the parties involved.
The department director, Bente Rygg, of the county governor’s department of social and child welfare in Oslo, and Viken told Romerikes Blad before the weekend that the case is still being processed and that they are trying to close it in a couple weeks.
