In June a German (43) was suspected of being behind Madeleine McCann’s disappearance and presumed death in 2007. He is incarcerated in Kiel and is currently serving a drug sentence. The man has previously been convicted of assault.
The German lived between 1995 and 2007 during periods on the Algarve coast, near the McCann family vacation spot. There he is guilty of various crimes, such as theft of hotels and vacation homes, as well as drug trafficking.

The prosecutor emphasizes that the police do not depend on technical evidence for a possible prosecution, but says they need more evidence. He can’t say exactly what they’re looking for, but points out that it could be a witness, a photo, or a video.
