Mæland also addressed rule changes announced by the government last week, which will be introduced to limit imports to Norway.
– In order to limit the contagion of imports, last week a negative coronation test and a mandatory quarantine hotel were required. This applies from today, Mæland said.
She emphasizes that the quarantine period is still ten days and that the quarantine obligation applies to the same people as before.
The deductible is NOK 500 for individuals and NOK 1,500 for employers, explains Mæland.
– It will also be possible to get tested during the quarantine period, but a negative result will not reduce the quarantine period.
Mæland said that quarantine hotel deals have been established in every county in the country.
– You risk losing money
It was previously announced that the police will give more priority to infringements of infection control regulations and that infringements will be punished.
– You can risk fines and jail time for breaking the rules, emphasizes Mæland.
– We can’t give up now, even if everyone starts to get bored. For us to have a chance to have a good and normal Christmas, we must all make an effort, says Mæland.
Overrepresented minority population
– In March, middle-aged men of Norwegian ethnicity were overrepresented over hospitalized patients with COVID-19, Health Director Bjørn Guldvog said during today’s press conference.
Recently, infection has increased among the minority population and migrant workers and it is these who now top the infection statistics.
Guldvog points out, among other things, the opportunity to make use of health information (health competence), language skills, living conditions, vulnerable occupations, living conditions and frequency of contact with relatives and relatives, as possible reasons for this.
Corona vaccine 90 percent effective
– No one is personally to blame for the spread of infection, but everyone has a responsibility to contribute to good infection control by following the advice and rules, emphasizes Guldvog.
The Norwegian Health Directorate has now taken a number of steps to strengthen information on coronavirus and infection control measures in several different languages, and also strengthens cooperation with various organizations that work directly with these groups.
It also emphasizes that it is important for the health service to provide facilities for all non-Norwegian speakers, including the use of interpretation services.
