– Blood tests confirm that there are probably very few who have had the infection so far, says FHI. They are now asking for saliva samples from test subjects.
Blood samples from a group of 480 people in the Oslo area confirm that less than 2 percent, less than 1 in 50, have antibodies to the blood coronavirus. This indicates that only a small part of the population has been infected with the coronavirus, writes the Institute of Public Health in a press release on Friday.

Antibody studies will provide information on how many have been infected in Norway. If antibodies are found in the blood, there is evidence of infection, while a PCR test shows if you have the virus in your body or if you have had it recently. (The PCR test is taken with a swab in the nose or throat.)
The FHI-referenced antibody study was taken between 6 and 8 May with participants from the Oslo area.
– The results confirm that there are probably very few who have had an infection so far, says project manager Per Magnus of the Institute of Public Health.

Check saliva samples
The National Institute of Public Health will now initiate more research to track the coronavirus. Test subjects must present a saliva sample, reports NTB.
Magnus says they hope to start the new tests soon. The saliva test can show if the person has the virus in their body, just as you do when you test your nose and throat with a brush.
– From the Institute of Public Health, we want to send a small package to a random sample. It contains a tube that you can spit out and send again, Magnus tells NTB.
