As if that weren’t enough: the soccer team is chasing the first ever North Norwegian league gold.
Right now, Bodø is a city full of arrogance.
A soccer team can change its mindset. A city can do that too. What happened to little Bodø?
A group of boys have crept up on a roof. In the afternoon light, they have a view of a city that has been transformed, an airport that will be completely changed, and an almost coronatomic arena with a soccer team like no other Norwegian city. “Bodø / Glimt on it, olé, olé!” sings the fans that have been given a place in the stands.
Two boys are sitting in a freshly polished car behind one of the stadium fences, some young children use a wooden pallet as a ladder and the streets are lined with yellow flags, it is sold out, a new load is expected in October.
People who have lived with the club all their lives use words like “absurd” and “crazy.” The budget is low compared to the greats of Norwegian football. The players Glimt began this adventure with were a group that hardly anyone wanted. However, the 104-year-old club may win its first elite league gold this year, not least that of northern Norway.
It is the penultimate Saturday in August. The series is played half. Northerners have an advantage that it is beginning to be difficult to do something about. Glimpses against Start was not a match.
