Brilliant attacking football has been crucial during Bodø / Glimt
Bodø / Glimt can break nine records
. When Glimt’s heroes came home to receive the tribute stone today, they were followed by a completely different weapon of attack.
The 331st Squadron of the Armed Forces, based in Bodø, celebrated the gold of the series by posing with escort aircraft on the trip to Bodø.
– It was absolutely fantastic that there were F-16s on the outside of the plane. There was also some sleepiness, says Bodø / Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen of the flight to Bodø.
Then his team had secured Bodø / Glimt’s first league gold. A gold that last night was definitely celebrated, says the technician.
– It was late and little sleep, but it was incredibly fun celebrating with everyone who has been on the trip. It has been a wonderful afternoon and evening.
– How much have you slept
– One hour. I’m not used to this, says Knutsen.
– Nice to pass
The Armed Forces trains daily with its F-16 aircraft in fixed training areas from the base in Bodø. When Glimt’s heroes were flying home, they chose a slightly special training program, says Henning Homb, chief of the Bodø Air Force base.
– It is a special day both for Bodø and for the whole of northern Norway. In that sense, we think it was good to be able to join and do some honor on the team.
“Since our training areas are not that far from where the SAS machine came from, it was nice that we were able to somehow pass and fly past the machine and almost escort the Glimt team home,” says Homb.

During the gradual introduction of the F-35 at Ørlandet, all F-16 aircraft are based at Bodø. It also means that base personnel come from all over the country.
– So it’s not just Glimt’s supporters here, but this year there are many who have been, because it has been a joy to follow the team, even for me, who is from Tromsø, says Homb.
I ordered a vintage London bus
When the plane landed in Bodø at 12 o’clock, Glimt was greeted by fire trucks with water cannons. There was also a festively decorated double-decker bus from 1960, bought in England for the occasion.
– I said if they were so crazy to buy the bus then I should bring it home. I’m very happy that the management at Glimt considers me qualified to bring the team home the last few meters of the party, says driver Kim Tony Rustad.
This was followed by a tour of Bodø, where people had taken to the streets in pure May 17 style to celebrate the league gold together with the Glimt team. At the Bodø town hall, the party continues.
Danish Bodø / Glimt winger Philip Zinckernagel doesn’t care.
– The night has been long and hard, but we had a great time. It is wonderful to be able to celebrate such a well deserved championship. I hope we can celebrate with you, then we’ll give you some gas, he says.
– Above all, we will celebrate something historic, from the founding of Glimt in 1916 to the first gold series. I’ll remember that as long as I live, adds Glimt’s trainer, Kjetil Knutsen.
