On Sunday morning, two teenagers were found in a Stockholm cemetery, after being kidnapped, raped and mistreated for several hours.
On Thursday it emerged that the children, who are between 15 and 17 years old, were also stabbed. Aftonbladet also claims that the children were said to have been threatened at a well in the cemetery, where the perpetrators began to bury them alive.
Shortly after, two men aged 18 and 21 were arrested. Both are in preventive prison and accused of deprivation of liberty, aggravated assault, rape and aggravated robbery.
The father of one of the defendants in what the Swedish media calls a “kidnapping for torture” now openly recounts the difficult times.
Raped children: – They should be buried alive.
– Hard to forgive
Neither parent has spoken to the son since he was detained by the police in the morning of last Sunday. They don’t want to do that until he has complained.
It is difficult for the father to accept that there is a possibility that the son is actually guilty of the crimes of which he is suspected.
– If I find out that it was actually him, if it is proven that he has done everything he is accused of … then it will be difficult to forgive him, he says in an interview with the Swedish Aftonbladet.
– I ended up in the wrong company
On Sunday night, the police received several reports of concern from parents who felt their children had not returned home. Among them was a conversation from the mother of one of the men who is now in custody.
The father says that the wife called the son in the evening and that he seemed happy when he answered. “Mom, don’t worry, I’ll be home soon,” he is said to have said.
The son has previously been convicted of drug and arson offenses.
– He is purely biologically an adult, but in practice he is still a child. He is easy to influence and has ended up in the wrong company, says his father.
Knife stabbed his girlfriend 143 times
But does that mean you can commit crimes like this? the Aftonbladet reporter asks.
– No. But you have to understand that I feel powerless. As soon as he turned 18, it was no longer possible to control him.
Still, the family struggles to believe that their son is capable of carrying out the suspected actions.
Previously convicted
According to Expressen, the incident must have lasted from 11 p.m. Saturday to 8:30 a.m. Sunday, when bystanders reported the incident.
How the children ended up in the cemetery Saturday night, or if they know the men accused in the case, investigation leader Anders Tordai does not want to comment. However, according to information from Aftonbladet, the police are working on the theory that the two children were accidental victims.
The youths have previously been convicted and have received social assistance. One of them was sentenced this summer to a year and a half in prison for arson. The other was sentenced to juvenile punishment after an attempted robbery last year.
Defenders for the two defendants have previously stated that their clients deny criminal guilt.
