We must consider the preamble almost immediately: what will Intel do now that Apple, at least on paper, can already deliver as of November 17 a fanless machine with its own chipset that is faster and has a much longer battery life? long than Intel? laptops? They are also much cheaper.
Better battery life, better performance, lower price and fanless
We can’t wait to test the Air M1 with 8GB of RAM on November 17 to find out if the most affordable of Apple’s new laptops can run on just 8GB of RAM.
At the same time, there’s one thing we don’t have to wonder about anymore, and it’s the GeekBench points these machines can pump out. There is nothing short of impressive what Apple has achieved:
The machine ends up at 1687 single-core points and 7433 multi-core points with 3.2 GHz.
For comparison, the iPhone 12 Pro handles 1584 and alone 3898 in the multi-core test.
See M1 machines:
How much faster will Apple Silicon be next year?
The machine is around a thousand multi-core points faster than the late 2013 Mac Pro and the late 2019 MacBook Pro 16.
The Mac mini M1 passed 1682 points and 7067 in the multi-core test, while the 16GB MacBook Pro 13 finishes at 1714 and 6802. This machine runs at the same GHz speed, so it is not known why the performance of the pair is less.
