The PST arrested a Norwegian in his 60s in Skien at the request of French police, who they believe is linked to a terrorist attack in Paris in 1982.

– Today we arrested a Norwegian citizen in Skien. The arrest is based on the European arrest warrant at the request of France, says senior adviser Annette Aamodt at Dagbladet’s Police Security Service (PST).
The man will be released into custody on Thursday.
The background to the indictment is an attack in Paris in 1982, when four perpetrators threw a hand grenade at the Goldenberg Jewish restaurant and fired more than 70 shots at customers and employees. Six people died and 22 were injured. The investigation has lasted to date.
The attack is related to the now defunct Palestinian militant organization Abu Nidal (ANO), of which the French police believe the Norwegian was a part.
The man has previously denied the incident and told VG in 2015 that he had never been to Paris. The 60-year-old man’s former attorney does not want to comment on the case, writes Dagbladet.
This is the second time that the French authorities have requested the Norwegian’s extradition. The first time was in 2015, but then the legislation said the case was outdated, the newspaper writes. The new charge will be identical to the previous one, but French authorities now hope the man can be extradited, as Norway recently ratified the Nordic-European arrest warrant.
