Jermstad, who became known through the TVNorge program “Happy Kitchen”, turned 71. Dietitian Fedon Lindberg remembers him as jovial and inspiring.

He died after several years of illness, his immediate family confirmed to VG.

Jermstad became Norway’s first known male television chef when for eight years he directed the TVNorge program “Happy Kitchen”, which aired in the 1980s. Most recently, he has been General Manager of Østfold’s competence center for food and drink in Fredrikstad.

In addition, Jermstad has been head chef at Hotel City in Fredrikstad and is the founder of the matkurs.no course business.

In the early 2000s, he stood up and recounted how, after learning about Fedon Lindberg’s diet, he lost 70 pounds and no longer needed insulin injections despite his diagnosis of type two diabetes.

Jermstad leaves behind three children and two extra children. He will be buried on Wednesday at 2pm at Onsøy Church in Fredrikstad.

– It was sad to hear that Arne Jermstad passed away, Fedon Lindberg, known for his teachings on dietary advice based on the glycemic index, tells VG.

The two collaborated and took courses together in the early 2000s.

– We got in touch at a time when he was having problems with his own health. Together we managed to implement a good life change at that time. “He was jovial and inspiring and I only have good memories of Arne Jermstad,” says Lindberg.
