Tangen requested a meeting with Slyngstad after the “dream seminar” – E24

Now Dagens Næringsliv writes that in January Tangen wrote an email to Slyngstad asking for a meeting on the post of administrator of oil funds.

Tang was supposed to have asked for a meeting in London, where he had lived for the past few years, but he also said he could come to Oslo. He allegedly suggested various dates for the meeting.

– In January, I contacted several people in Norway who could provide useful information for my next interviews. It was headhunter Russell Reynolds who led the process of finding alternative candidates as head of the Petroleum Fund. Tangen previously told VG that Russell Reynolds invited him to lunch in London in early December 2019, when the “concrete seed” was planted on the post.

Olsen rejects lubrication charges

Central Bank Governor Øystein Olsen said Monday that the head of the oil fund’s drainage, Yngve Slyngstad, has had nothing to do with the hiring process for his successor.

– Nicolai Tangen, to be specific: it was recorded. We don’t know who and how that contact occurs, but Nicolai Tangen is of size and ability, and Russell Reynolds was obviously aware of his qualifications, Olsen told NRK on Monday.

Joint Federation leader Jørn Eggum has said the seminar “seems to be the butter of the century” and requires full scrutiny. Olsen dismissed the charges of a taint, in an interview on the NRK Political Quarter on Monday.

– Those are strong words. It is understandable that this type of trip, stay or trip attracts attention. But when it comes to connecting with Nicolai Tangen’s job, it’s really good for me to know the truth, Olsen told NRK.

“There is absolutely no connection between that trip when it comes to the process and the evaluations that were done on the hiring of Nicolai Tangen,” said Olsen.

The Norges Bank Supervisory Board, which is the central bank’s supervisory body, will be informed of the bank’s use of Tangen.
