It is the first routine launch to the space station made for NASA by a private company.

The Falcon rocket lifted off from the Kennedy Space Center with three American astronauts and one Japanese on board. The Dragon space capsule on top of the rocket has been named “Resilience” in light of this year’s many challenges and is scheduled to arrive at the space station on Monday night and the four astronauts will be there until spring. 2021.

SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk followed the launch from a distance due to crown rules at the Kennedy Space Center. Musk wrote on Twitter that he probably had a mild case of covid-19.
