Due to a sharp increase in the number of people infected with the coronavirus, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has decided that the British must prepare for a new shutdown of society.
“This is the time to act, because there is no alternative,” Johnson said in a speech from Downing Street.
Johnson announced this at a news conference Saturday night. The new measures will be implemented next Thursday, November 4 and will last until December 2.
Starting next Thursday, British society will shut down as it was during the worst corona period this spring.
Britons are required to stay at home, but with a few exceptions: for education and studies, work if you cannot work from home, training and outdoor leisure activities, for medical reasons, to buy food and other basic necessities and to exercise caring for others, writes BBC.
All pubs and restaurants are closed for visits, but can remain open for takeout, according to the BBC.
The closure includes bars, restaurants and shops that are not considered essential. Workplaces can be kept open as long as employees can work from home.
Johnson said the virus was spreading faster than the most likely scenarios that could greatly affect British society.(Terms)Copyright Dagens Næringsliv AS and / or our suppliers.
