The artist was actually out of the competition, then the opposite message came.
NRK’s ”Star Wars” show brings together several competing artists, and on Saturday’s show the theme was the country. The nine contestants each sang their own country song, and Sandra Lyng Haugen sang Dolly Parton’s 1973 classic “Jolane.”
However, the performance did not fall at home with several of the spectators, and the 33-year-old was eliminated from the competition. Or so everyone thought, before NRK found out that something was wrong with the audience’s texting.

– We received some comments that some of those who voted by text message did not receive a receipt message. We also saw that we received a lot of votes by SMS after the voting period ended during the broadcast and therefore we cannot guarantee one hundred percent that we have a correct result, says Mirja Minjares, editor of the project at NRK, in a Press release.

Therefore, the public broadcaster immediately took action by declaring the result invalid.

– It is our job to ensure a fair vote, so we have to do a thorough review of this together with the Link Mobility company, which handles the SMS voting. The solution for the survey at nrk.no/stem worked, but we have to have the full picture of the votes online and by SMS. We know that the margins are small in these types of surveys and that is why it is the only correct thing to continue with nine artists next week, says Minjares.
Roller coaster of emotions
The main character felt the full spectrum of emotions on Saturday night after being knocked out, but then received the opposite message from NRK.
-It became an emotional roller coaster after the broadcast. At first I was incredibly sad, and then I was really happy when I knew I was with. The only positive thing about believing that I had smoked was not having to sing opera, but I love taking on a challenge, so now of course I’m ready for it too, says Sandra Lyng in the press release.
