Knut Marius Djupvik (32) won a thriller from a “Star Wars” finale. – I’m in shock, he says and reveals that now he finally has “enough balls” to go on a solo tour.

Knut Marius beat Sandra Lyng (33).

The winner burst into tears when the result was read.

– It feels absolutely fantastic! I am incomprehensibly happy. I have put a lot of time and effort into this. It has been such an intense period. To be here with a win is absolutely insane, that is! cheered on television.

The 32-year-old listed many that he wanted to thank.

– My family and my wife, Maria. And everyone who has voted. This is a dream come true.

Knut Marius also paid attention to the competitor.

– Sandra is an absolutely fantastic artist. Congratulations, Sandra, Knut Marius said to the rival, who had to settle for second place.

– Feels completely wild

Knut Marius has done it again: he left and won a singing contest on television. Seven years have passed since the artist, educated in rhythmic music, ran away with first place in “La Voz.”

– It feels completely wild, Knut Marius tells VGTV after the new victory.

– I’ve been holding on every week. Then this happens.

VGTV is present in Nydalen and meets the two finalists after the broadcast (article continues during transmission):

Minutes after the triumph is in port, Knut Marius still has not realized that he won.

– But I know I sang “The Show Must Go On” again. I’m about to explode and I’m probably in shock, says the Tomrefjord victor on Møre og Romsdal.

In recent years, Knut Marius has worked as a freelance musician and has been on the stage of musicals such as “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Chess” and “We love ABBA”. Molde football fans also remember him for the song from the cup final in 2013.

In 2015, Knut Marius married Maria Valseth and the couple have two children together. In 2018, the family settled in Oslo.

When VG talks on the phone with Knut Marius a little later in the evening, when he’s summed up, we ask him what it really means to him to win.

– That means so very a lot. After so many months of trying and doing my things. By standing in front of the mirror or window and trying to get it right. So now he feels incredibly big, responds the 32-year-old, who emphasizes that he entered the competition with great humility.

He still walks with euphoria.

– But I have changed my clothes and now I am functioning as a human being again, he laughs.

too now it is important to praise your opponent.

– I had a tough competitor. Sandra has been almost as cheeky as I have when it comes to choosing songs, thinks Knut Marius.

Finally «enough balls»

– What kinds of new opportunities will this mean for you?

– The biggest advantage of participating and then winning is showing what you have inside. People have noticed it now, and it’s great. Now it will be first a Christmas tour with other musicians, and then a completely separate tour during the winter, he explains.

– I haven’t had my own tour dances before, but now I will finally travel through Norway and meet those who have voted and sent me messages.

The health problems that you previously thought would end your musical dream have passed.

– It was very mental, and thanks to the good help I got back on the horse. Now I’ll just look ahead.

There will also be more time with the family. Knut Marius hopes the calm subsides.

– This has been extremely immersive. Now I will sit on the floor tomorrow morning with my children and look them in the eye.

Proud tower

Sandra took “defeat” with a grain of salt. She screamed with joy at being number two.

– Lasse, darling, I love you, Sandra told her partner Lasse Joachim Langerud, with whom she has a two-year-old son.

– Thank you very much for being a single parent during this period. And thank you to everyone who voted, she said smiling on television.

– It is very strange, now suddenly there will be a hole in the bubble that I have been in for so long, Sandra told VGTV after the broadcast.

She explains that she didn’t have as much faith in having something to do in the competition, but that she has felt the sense of dominance along the way. A second place that he had not dared to wait.

– I had no idea. Now I have been here in the final. It’s great, said the 33-year-old, who became a national celebrity on “Idol” 16 years ago. Then he finished in fourth place.

– Definitely

VG critic Tor Martin Bøe rolled the dice throughout the night, including two sixes for Knut Marius. See the verdict below.

Bøe is not surprised that it turned out as it did.

– Knut Marius has been to that extent the participant who has delivered and delivered throughout the season, he says.

Only once has Knut Marius been in the bottom three.

– From the first verse he has shown impressive flexibility and voice strength. Especially in recent shows, it has been completely unique, the reviewer believes.

– In the final, Knut Marius showed that there should be no doubts. In every way a worthy winner of an exceptionally strong season, concludes Bøe.

While Knut Marius has been among viewers ‘and critics’ favorites on “Star Wars” from the get-go, Sandra has had to be in the infamous danger zone multiple times.

She has even experienced being sent outside of the competition, which turned out to be due to the voting loop. Thus, Sandra came back as fast as she left, and has since taken revenge for revenge.

Maria Mena (34), last year’s winner Bilal Saab (21) and Mona B. Riise (48) sat on the judging panel.

Songs and order

1. Sandra: 2009’s “Run This Town” (Jay-Z with Rihanna og Kanye West):

– This was the reason why he wanted to return as judge. I believe in you like this. Thank you! Maria Mena said after the performance.

Bilal Saab thought this “sounded like bullets and gunpowder.”

2. Knut Marius: “With a little help from my friends” (Joe Cocker) since 1969:

– I feel like they cleanse me when you ignite your soul. I think you’ll get all the jokes out in those minutes. This was fun! in Mona.

– You are fantastic. If I had had your vocal cords, it would have pressed too, said Maria, who nonetheless asked for a bit of restraint.

3. Sandra with her new single «Get rid of the flag»:

– Two years ago I became a mother, and then maybe the idea occurred to me that I couldn’t continue as an artist. But with “Star Wars” I got a new life, she explained about her song written by herself.

– It feels like I give my whole soul. A bit like being naked, she relied on television.

The judging panel was also enthusiastic about this performance and thought that Sandra showed vulnerability in a particularly pleasant way.

4. Knut Marius with his new single: “Can you help me help”:

The song is very personal, about mental health, and Knut Marius confided to television that he had previously felt anxiety and fear that his health would prevent him from pursuing his musical dream.

The jury boasted uncontrollably, including Maria.

– I withdraw what I said instead, Maria said, about the fact that she expressed her desire for a little more calm.

6. Knut Marius Final Song: Queen’s 1991 Classic “The Show Must Go On”:

– Songs are important in the time we are in now. You sit at home a lot. The concerts are canceled. I hope that everyone who sits at home and in the hallway and watches, “the show must go on,” Knut Marius explained on the broadcast.

The jury was ecstatic. “Insane” and “you can follow fucking Freddy Mercury”, sounded in the tributes of Bilal and Maria.

Did you think it was the first time Sandra and Knut Marius had faced each other in battle? Think again. In fact, they have met once before. It happened in 2014 when everyone appeared on their own team on “Beat for Beat.”

– Yes, it is true, Knut Marius explains to VG.

But he and Sandra haven’t had a new encounter until they met again in “Star Wars.”

– That time with “Beat for Beat” we talked together at lunch, sang our songs and went our separate ways. Little did I know why we would duel a few years later, says Knut Marius.

– Spinning game

– Almost even more fun is that she is the girl I sat and saw on “Idol” in 2004, who sang on television in my living room, who was going to be my final opponent on a dream show like “Star Wars “. Life is wild, says Knut Marius.

Who won in 2014 is not sure.

“I don’t really remember, oddly enough, but I think it was Anine and me.”

Sandra also doesn’t remember who got the win on “Beat for Beat.”

– But it was probably them, she says.
