In the municipality of Sirdal, there are already 51 wind turbines. Now there are plans for another 50, not far from the village of Virak.
Land owner Andreas Liland believes that the wind farm will provide many benefits. You have signed an agreement with the developer.
Sandnes Mayor Stanley Wirak has done the same. He owns this farm. 20 owners have signed an agreement with Norsk Vind Energi AS.
Maybe stop by Ben’s cafe in Helleland for a slice of dumplings on the way to Tonstad. In Helleland, leave the E39 behind and continue on the national road 42 towards the municipal center of Sirdal. Just before the center of Tonstad, turn towards Sira.
You are now in Viraksveien. The narrow county road 901 on the west side of Sirdalsvatnet winds into the small town of Virak, 12 kilometers south of Tonstad.

On the horizon, the wind turbines of the Tonstad wind farm are spinning.
There may be more of these. Wind energy developer Norsk Vind Energi AS wants to build 50 wind turbines in Bergeheia, a mountainous area west of Sirdalsvatnet, next to the Øykjeheia nature reserve.
The turbines can be between 200 and 250 meters high.
They can be visible at a distance of 40 to 50 kilometers in clear weather.
