Springsteen on “Skavlan”: – I’m sure. Trump won’t win this time either

“For Donald Trump to run for president is embarrassing for America,” Bruce Springsteen said the last time he was on Fredrik Skavlan’s talk show. He was ahead of the 2016 US presidential election.

Four years later, Springsteen is back in “Skavlan” and predicts the presidential election. The episode airs on Swedish TV1 tonight and on Norwegian TV2 on Saturday.

Today, Bruce Springsteen releases his new album “Letter To You”. In “Skavlan” he talks about what it’s like to work with his old friends in the E Street Band after 45 years, and he missed out on playing live during the corona pandemic.

– Covid means we can’t play games, and that’s what I live for, Springsteen apologizes, who participates in the broadcast from his home studio in New Jersey.

– There will be elections soon, and the last time we spoke was just before the 2016 US elections. Then you said you wouldn’t win, recalls Fredrik Skavlan

– I’m still sure. He’s not going to win this time either, Bruce Springsteen replies with a smile.

– I predict Trump will lose and Joe Biden will become president, Springsteen says.

Hillary supported

Before the previous presidential elections, Bruce Springsteen played in front of 40,000 supporters at the end of Hillary Clinton’s election campaign. In this year’s presidential election, Springsteen has kept a lower profile, but has given Joe Biden and the Democrats a campaign video of his 2002 song “The Rising.”

Host Fredrik Skavlan notes that many of Bruce Springsteen’s fans vote for Donald Trump.

– Yes, I know many who vote for Trump. There are people in my family who vote for Trump. I have motorcycle buddies who vote for Trump for various reasons, most of them bad, Springsteen says.

– But what should I say, other than: I think most Americans will now see through it and vote for it on November 3, Springsteen says on the Skavlan episode.

The new album was recorded in Springsteen’s home studio in New Jersey, with a full E-Street Band, in five days.

Tonight’s “Skavlan” also features, among others, Aksel Hennie, who talks about his role in the new American thriller “The Doorman.”
