Spain is tightening

Spain expands the list of areas where sanitary pads are required. The order now also applies to sunbathers on the beach or by the pool.

With infection rates rising recently, the country has expanded the list of places where it will now have to wear face masks. The order will last “until the end of the crisis,” according to authorities.

As of Wednesday, the use of masks in public places, both indoors and outdoors, will be mandatory. This applies even when a “safe distance” of one and a half meters can be maintained, it is said.

Exception

It is still allowed to remove the mouthpiece when eating or drinking in restaurants, and when doing outdoor sports and swimming.

The order applies to anyone over the age of six, but exceptions are made for people who for medical reasons cannot use masks, according to El País. Avisa also writes that exceptions are made for activities where wearing a bandage is not appropriate, such as in connection with individual outdoor training.

Violation of the bandage regulations is punishable by fines of up to 100 euros, which is equivalent to about 1000 Norwegian crowns.

Growing trend

During the pandemic, 3.3 million cases of infection have been registered in Spain and 75,000 deaths from covid-19. On Monday, the Spanish Ministry of Health said that they now see a growing trend of infection in the country and consider that there is an extremely high risk in Madrid and Navarra, according to El País.

– We can let the infection trend continue or we can reverse it. It is possible that we will have a new wave of infections, but if that happens it will be less than the previous ones due to the number of vaccinations that we will carry out in the coming weeks. We vaccinate more each week that passes, and thus we save time, says Fernando Simón from the Spanish Ministry of Health.
