593 days after the “miracle of Paris”, Ole Gunnar Solskjær is back. Many of United’s biggest stars are at home.
March 6, 2019 is a date Solskjær will hardly forget, when he was 0-2 to 3-3 overall and a place in the Champions League quarterfinals by the away goal rule. 22 days later, Solskjær went from substitute manager to manager at Manchester United.
– That game is history for us. It is in the past. It’s a great story, but it has nothing to do with this fight in any way. We are different, they are different and it is in a different stage of the tournament, says Solskjær at the press conference in Paris, writes Manchester Evening News.
Now he meets PSG again. On Wednesday at 9pm, United returns to the Parc Des Princes in the French capital when the Champions League group stage match kicks off. And Bruno Fernandes becomes captain when captain Harry Maguire and several of the biggest players are out with injuries.
– I did not expect this
– The captain is sitting next to me. Bruno will be the captain of the team tomorrow, says Solskjær at the press conference on Monday night.

Fernandes was captain of Sporting Lisbon before joining Manchester United.
– I did not expect this. I discovered this at the same time as you. It is an honor and important for me to achieve it. But all are captains, all must help and be leaders along the way. The leadership style is different for all players. It’s not about me, it’s about the team, says Fernandes, who was with Solskjær at the press conference.

Solskjær is happy with Fernandes.
– Bruno has come here and has made a big difference, all the statistics show it. His player has also been praised. The team has not changed, but it has gained brilliance in the team, says Solskjær.
Harry Maguire, Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard are among those not going to Paris, but United have a 4-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday on the trust account.

– Edison needs a few more days of training before we can think about using it for the weekend. Hopefully this also applies to Harry, Eric (Bailly) and Mason (Greenwood), but I’m not sure, says Solskjær.
– A fantastic group
The Norwegian believes Odion Ighalo will improve further with Cavani at the club.
“We’ve had very good performances from Odion, and he’s still a very important piece in this team,” says Solskjær.
Manchester United play in Group H, in addition to PSG, Istanbul Basaksehir and Alexander Sørloth’s RB Leipzig are in that group. The German club was in the last semifinals.
– This is a fantastic group for us. This will probably be the biggest test so far (the game against PSG), says Solskjær.

The Paris press wondered if there were other reasons besides health that made Mason Greenwood not go to Paris, since this Monday he trained in Manchester.
“We don’t want to take any chances with him, and we hope he’s back and doing well for the weekend,” says Solskjær.
