Martin Linnes is affected by the fireworks accident that Omar Elabdellaoui was exposed to on New Years Eve. Now he promises that the entire Galatasaray team will play for the teammate.

The big Turkish club released a statement from Linnes after Saturday’s league game against Antalyaspor.

– This has been an equally difficult process for me as for everyone else. Omar has been my friend for ten years, says Linnes.

– I think he will return to the field even stronger. From now on, we play every game for him and take all the points from him, adds the Norwegian national team player.

The match against Antalyaspor ended 0-0. Thus, Galatasaray remains second in the series, only behind Alanyaspor on goal difference.

Before the game, a surprising greeting to Elabdellaoui appeared. During the warm-up, all the Galatasaray and Antalyaspor players wore a shirt with the legend “Get well soon, Omar”. It was also printed with an image of the Norwegian’s face.

Confirmed eye damage

Early Saturday, Turkish doctors confirmed that Elabdellaoui’s vision was affected by damage from fireworks. At a press conference mentioned by the Turkish website Hurriyet, the Norwegian’s doctor came up with an update on the health status of the national team profile.

– Everything has been going very well so far, but eyesight is definitely affected by this incident. The right eye is slightly worse than the left, said Dr. Vedat Kaya.

The doctor said they are considering another operation, depending on how the situation develops. Club doctor Yener Ince answered questions about whether the right-back has problems other than sight.

“He has a second degree burn on his face, but plastic surgeons say they can treat it with satisfactory results,” he said, according to Trtspor.

Reacted strongly

Hurriyet wrote on Saturday that Elabdellaoui’s employer, Galatasaray, will sue an ambulance worker who released photos of the Norwegian after he was injured on New Year’s Eve.

Galatasaray Vice President Abdurrahim Albayrak reacted strongly to the ambulance worker’s behavior.

– An ambulance employee at the scene took photos and shared them on social media. It’s a shame and a shame, he said after the accident, continuing:

– This person (Elabdellaoui) has three children and Galatasaray has 30 million fans. Our friend is loved by thousands of people, family and friends in this country. What kind of conscience is behind such an image? It’s a shame, right?

Elabdellaoui doesn’t want a lawsuit

The Norwegian himself is said to have been informed by hospital visitors on Friday that the images had been leaked online and that his club would be suing.

Hurriyet claims that Elabdellaoui himself doesn’t want to.

– No, don’t. His family will be injured, Elabdellaoui is said to have said.
