Former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher reacts strongly to the Twitter message following the death of coach legend Gerard Houllier.
Sad news came on Monday that the former Liverpool manager had passed away at the age of 73. Houllier had been struggling with heart problems for a long time.
Following the Frenchman’s death, several soccer personalities have sent their condolences and warm words about Houllier, including former Liverpool star Jamie Carragher, who was part of the team that took “The Treble” under Houllier’s leadership.
In addition to paying tribute to his former coach, Carragher also noted it in a tweet from Lord Sugar. He is a prominent British businessman, media personality and former political adviser. Sugar must cost several billion crowns.
After Houllier’s death, Lord Sugar, whose original name is Alan Michael Sugar, wrote a message that did not sit well with the former Anfield detainee.
– Sad news about Gerard Houllier. Good Guy. I imagine Piers Morgan will put aside half of the “Good Morning UK” show to tell everyone how well he knew him and that they have a long history together, was Sugar’s message.
The message quickly received a lot of attention and was perceived as highly inappropriate. Carragher was one of those who reacted strongly and asked for the message to be deleted immediately.
“Delete this you fucking idiot,” Carragher replied shortly after the message was posted.
Carragher is said to have subsequently deleted his tweet, but the message was quickly picked up and mentioned in various newspapers and websites.
According to The Mirror, Lord Sugar has a pretty strained relationship with Piers Morgan. The two are said to be rivals in time, but many called the message unpleasant shortly after the tragic death. Several accuse Sugar of trying to score cheap humor points after some sad news.
Also the profile of the BBC, Dan Walker, commented everything with a sarcastic message to Sugar.
– There is something called time and place, Lord Sugar. May I humbly suggest that this is neither the time nor the place, he writes.
Carragher expressed great sadness over the death that came out Monday and praised Houllier as the man who changed him both as a player and as a person.
The French manager legend sat in the manager’s chair at Liverpool from 1998 to 2004. He led the club to several titles, but never managed to win the Premier League. He also coached PSG, Lyon, Aston Villa and the French national team in his career.
