VG writes on Wednesday about the first big package of coronary vaccines that will arrive in Norway on December 28. The doses in this package will be distributed throughout the country and, according to the newspaper, the National Institute of Public Health has offered all municipalities a certain number of doses. The city councils can begin to mount them already on Monday, January 4.

However, municipalities can choose to wait a week.

– First we distribute to the cold stores by proportion of the elderly. Then we tell the municipalities what has been distributed, and then we will respond to them if they are ready to receive them already in week one or if they will postpone a week, explained the chief physician Are Stuwitz Berg of the National Institute of Public Health to VG.

On the website of the municipality of Ålesund, they announce that they will start vaccination in week one, that is, on Monday, January 4. The municipal chief doctor Olav Mestad informs Sunnmørsposten that the first 205 doses are enough to initiate the vaccination of about half of those who will receive a vaccine in Ålesund nursing homes.

This has to do with logistics and if the municipalities are prepared to do it. When the vaccine is thawed from the cold room, it must be placed within five days. That is why it is important that logistics run smoothly, so that doses are not wasted. Central cold rooms are located around Norway in secret locations, for security reasons.

Here is the number of doses that the National Institute of Public Health has offered to municipalities, according to VG:
