After a long period of near-summer temperature, many people in southern Norway woke up to another season this morning:
In Rælingen, just two miles from Oslo, the snow was thick. The same was true in places like Lillehammer and parts of Trondheim.
– This is in line with the notification. A rain zone has entered southern Norway, typically followed by cold air. Tonight it passed through the southeastern country: it started as rain and finally came when the snow fell to a certain height, Espen Biseth Granan, a meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute, tells Dagbladet.
danger warning
It was before the weekend issued a yellow snow hazard warning for large parts of southern Norway, with the caveat to drive carefully.
Granan goes on to say that the most intense winter weather is temporary.
– It is moving east, and the rain in the Oslo area is already easing, he says.

However, there is no prospect of an early return for the near-summer climate in the south.
– Monday and Tuesday there is still a north wind, and the weather prevails throughout the country. We receive snow from northern Norway to western Norway; the rain will also come as rain and hail, says Granan.
However, the eastern part of the country escapes relatively easily from both rain and temperature.
– There may be some showers here, says the meteorologist.
Get ready
Throughout the week, the warning sounds a little shaky in the rest of the country, but the trend is for the weather to improve.
– Northern Norway, Trøndelag, Western Norway and Eastern Norway are mostly dry – weather with opportunities for sunshine, says Granan.
He emphasizes that it is a full week until May 17 and therefore it is difficult to say one thing for certain about what the weather will be like at that time.
In eastern Norway we expect stays with temperatures between 10 and 14 degrees, says the meteorologist.
– That is to say. bumblebee, but cool?
That’s right.
Do you want to argue?
