Skei Grande announces its departure this fall:

Trine Skei Grande has been isolated and trapped for two months in the apartment in the old town of Oslo.

– I think it could be good for some politicians who also have the experience I have, that is, being in a zone of extreme danger and knowing the fear of a virus that you do not know if you can protect yourself. I’m glad someone can bring that experience to politics, says the leader of the left.

TV 2 meets her and four chickens in the backyard.

– You see that notches have been made, says Skei Grande.

– Is it like the power struggle on the left?

– No, these are just chickens. It is much better, she says.

Skei Grande is in overtime at the party. In fact, she had to be thanked at the April national meeting.

National meeting for the fall

Now he warns TV 2 that the national meeting will probably be in September or October.

– I’m fine. I am still the party leader for the national meeting, which will probably be in September or October, says Skei Grande.

She does not mean who she expects to take over, but says there are more candidates to become party leaders.

– I noticed that it is growing long after me and that there are many candidates, says Skei Grande.

When the nominating committee obtained its nomination on March 5, it was Sveinung Rotevatn and Abid Raja who were nominated as deputy leaders. Now Guri Melby sails as a challenger for the party leadership job.

– How long can a party have a party leader sitting outside of day-to-day politics?

– I don’t feel out of day-to-day politics. I am well connected to all the processes in the Storting and because I have a close relationship with Erna and I have good contact with Iselin Nybø in the government, we will do this.

– Do you think it works to be a party leader from the kitchen counter at home?

– It gives me some freedoms to express that I may not be able to do it as a government minister, we also have great representatives in the government, says Skei Grande.

She hopes that in the future she will see leadership candidates find their way together.

– There are many excellent people who can take leadership and other positions, and we have a new generation in government that I now hope they can join together to create a leadership team that can lift up the left.

Look no further

Skei Grande resigned just a week after being named leader of the left. He told the Press Club, which is broadcast on TV 2, in April that he finally realized that he would not be able to organize the party.

– What didn’t you care about anymore?

– I try to collect things that did not work on my computer, I must admit it. They did not work with the same objective, that is, trying to reunite the party.
