Siv Jensen reacts strongly to Sian’s Turkish reaction

The ministry condemns the action in a statement on the Facebook page of the Turkish embassy and writes that it hopes that the Norwegian authorities will take the necessary measures to ensure that such actions are not repeated.

Jensen reacts strongly to this. She hopes the government will give the Turkish authorities a clear message that freedom of expression is enshrined in the Norwegian constitution.

– Part of freedom of expression

– We will not allow totalitarian forces or other states to restrict the constitutional freedom of expression that we have in Norway. Let me say that it is perfectly legal to burn the Quran in Norway. It still should be. I distance myself from burning the Quran, just as I distance myself from burning the Norwegian flag or the Bible. It is still something that we must endure in our society, because it is part of freedom of speech, says the FRP leader in a comment to NTB.

At the same time, he emphasizes that the party is moving away from stopping the Islamization of Norway (Sian).

Ask the Foreign Ministry to be clear

– Obviously, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet understood what freedom of expression means. I think the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is clear to Turkey and other Muslim countries about how freedom of expression is in Norway. We must defend our democracy regardless of the kind of reactions we can get, says Jensen.

It was during a celebration on Saturday that Sian’s profile, Fanny Bråten, was smashed into pieces and he spat on pages of the Quran.
