Bondevik believes that the party has taken a strong step to the right, in the conservative Christian direction, and can no longer be considered a center-right party.
– I do not want to be part of a party that fails the climate strikes, that fails the children in Moria, that fails the LGBTI people and that also fails the public debate.Bondevik tells NRK Dagsrevyen.
He has not finished in politics, but he will not comment if he has another party in sight.
Bondevik belonged to the red side in the KrF leadership elections in the fall of 2018 and wanted the party headed by Knut Arild Hareide to go to the left in politics. He is also the grandson of former Prime Minister Kjell Magne Bondevik.
Bondevik writes on Facebook that he is grateful for everything KrF has given him, but that the party is no longer the right thing for him.
– It’s melancholic and sad, at the same time I’m sure it’s the right thing to do, he writes.
Among those who commented on the resignation during his tenure is central board member Erik Lunde.
– I wish you had waited until the show was presented shortly. Do you think you have discovered that this is far from how you describe the previous party? Anyway, good luck!
