The Anti-racist Center has denounced the SIAN Islamophobic organization to the police for statements of hatred and discrimination during a celebration in Arendal on 6 August.

The review refers to two appeals that SIAN leader Lars Thorsen upheld.

– SIAN portrays Muslims as sadistic people who pose a fundamental threat to Norway. They call for deportations, that is, ethnic cleansing of Muslim Norwegians, says the leader of the Anti-Racist Center Rune Berglund Steen.

– At worst, this may be adequate to motivate acts of violence against Muslims, he continues.

Thorsen rejects the accusations

SIAN leader Lars Thorsen denies that the content of his appeals matches Berglund Steen’s descriptions.

– What I said is indisputable. Our speeches have been filmed and recorded. But it is not synonymous with what he says I have said, says Thorsen.

– What I describe as Muslims is the group that the Qur’an and Muhammad describe as good Muslims, and it is something completely different from the group that Berglund Steen describes. It all depends on the ability to hear what I am really saying, and that requires a theological understanding. I set up the statements in such a way that regardless of whether you are stupid, you will not necessarily be led to believe that I say what the Anti-Racist Center says I have said, Thorsen tells NTB.

The police report also applies to Fanny Bråten at SIAN and how she accused a particular protester.

Convicted

Thorsen was sentenced last year to 30 days in prison and a fine of 20,000 crowns for hate speech in the leaflets that SIAN distributed in Oslo. In August this year, Fanny Bråten was acquitted in the appeal case at the Borgarting Court of Appeal for the brochures and an appeal was held in Oslo.

In recent weekends, there has been noise and unrest surrounding the celebrations SIAN has held in Bergen and Oslo. Last Saturday, Fanny Bråten shattered and spat pages of the Koran outside the Storting. 29 counter-protesters ended up in custody.

At the end of last week, the Bergen police stated that they were investigating 18 people for throwing stones, disturbing public order and robbing the SIAN post in Bergen.
