The celebration began at 1 pm with an appeal from Sian leader Lars Thorsen, where he spoke about what the group calls the problem of Islam. At the same time, Thorsen criticized the police for allowing the disorderly conduct and the approximately 150 counter-protesters who came forward to expose Sian to the “noise of terror”.

Sian stands for Stop the Islamization of Norway.

Barricades had been erected to keep Sian activists and counter-protesters apart, and the police had turned up in great numbers.

The counter-protesters shouted slogans, pointed fingers, drummed and shook the barricades, and blew trumpet and recorder to drown the leader of Sian.

No major disturbances

Three people were expelled from the scene for disorderly conduct, according to the Innlandet Police District. The celebration ended around 3pm without major disturbances.

When Sian finally left the scene, the counter-protesters chanted “Seier’n er vår”.

In a press release, the Innlandet police district writes that they are satisfied that the demonstration went peacefully and that they had good control during the marking.

– Those present have related to the security measures of the police, and we want to thank the people of Hamar who have followed the requests of the police, says Chief of Staff Pål Erik Teigen.

Noise in Bergen and Oslo

In recent weeks, it has degenerated into riots and violence in connection with several of Sian’s celebrations.

In Bergen, Thorsen was attacked by youths, while the police cracked down on counter-protesters.

In Oslo, Sian’s profile tore Fanny Bråten to pieces and spit out pages of the Koran during a celebration outside the Storting, and 29 protesters were arrested.
