OCALA, FLORIDA (Dagbladet): Steve Scully, political editor for the television channel C-SPAN, was supposed to actually lead the debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden, which would take place in Miami on Friday night.
The debate was reportedly canceled because Trump refused to hold it on video.
Now, in addition, Scully has been suspended from the channel’s top spot, the AP news agency reported late Thursday.
Trump message
The reason is that Scully is said to have lied saying that her Twitter account had been hacked. Last week, among other things, his account sent a Twitter message to former Trump spokesman Anthony Scaramucci.

Scully’s cryptic message was: “@Scaramucci should reply to trump.” It may appear that Scully is asking Scaramucci if he should respond to Trump.
Trump had shortly before called the moderator of the planned debate a “never Trumper,” that is, an eternal opponent of the president. Scaramucci also responded that he thought the host with more than 30 years of experience on the channel should not respond.
Blamed on piracy
Scully and the channel said shortly after that her account was hacked and that the debate committee, the FBI and Twitter were notified.
Now he admits lies.
– This was a bad judgment for which I am fully and completely responsible. Sorry, he said in a statement according to the Associated Press. He says he has failed his colleagues and the debating committee.

New debate
Although Scully is gone, the election campaign is fully advancing towards Election Day on November 3. Today, both Trump and Biden will hold so-called “town halls,” live events where voters ask them questions.
Trumps will take place in Miami and will be broadcast and directed by NBC. Biden will perform at a similar event with rival Philadelphia television channel ABC. Therefore, both events take place in important states of transition for the two candidates.
The events replace what should have been the second televised debate between the candidates. Traditionally, there are three, but this year they will be reduced to two. The second will be held in Nashville, Tennessee, in a week.
