The conversation in the kitchen made the father react

He spoke of a conversation between the brothers in the kitchen where the now murderous and terrorist son told the brother that he would kill him if he married a woman of another race.

The father was asked how he had experienced this statement and what he thought.

– It was as if a fighter jet was flying around the room. What did you say? Is it possible to say something like that? he replied and what he was thinking.

He explained that there was no fight in advance. The three of them, Philip and his brother, were in the kitchen. The father overheard this conversation between the brothers where the topic of marrying “a lady from Thailand” came up.

The father explained that Philip had left the room afterward, but that he had interpreted the son’s reaction as “he must have been disappointed that his brother could think.” He explained that he and Philip’s brother, as he remembered it, had looked at each other inquisitively after this explosion.

Took the purchase of bulletproof vest

The father confirmed that he had learned that the defendant eventually began to search for external environments and attitudes that might cause concern. The meeting he had with a representative of the Nordic resistance movement was a subject about which the father was asked. They had told him it was a meeting and that there was talk of violence to achieve political goals. The father explained that one of the brothers tried to talk to him about this. His father had spoken to him when he learned that the son had acquired a bulletproof vest.

– I have a cynic

The father said he knew that the stepmother was increasingly concerned about Philip Manshaus’ attitudes. When he testified in the courtroom earlier in the day, he described this change as follows:

– You have shit.

“I understand what he meant,” the father said when asked about this and how he remembers the defendant’s changes in spring 2019.

The day before the murder and assault, the stepmother had noted that the defendant had posted clippings of the attack on the Brenton Tarrant Mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand. He then searched the web for answers on how to proceed to alert the police to his concerns.

Contacting the neo-Nazi organization

On Tuesday, the court saw police documentation of the defendant’s contact with the Norwegian resistance movement, a right-wing neo-Nazi group.

On June 4, the accused sent an email to the Nordic Resistance Movement (DNM) introducing himself and said he wanted to contact the organization. This request was confirmed received on June 23. On July 9, the defendant was contacted by a man named chief of staff, a kind of department head. A meeting with the man was arranged in the center of Oslo. This meeting was held on July 11, according to police. A little later, on July 28, the defendant sought more information from DNM.

Impressed by danger and stepmother

Philip Manshaus’ father’s assistant attorney, Vibeke Hein Bære, says his father was clearly marked and tired of the trial when he gave up his explanation.

“It is almost inhumane because of what they all go through together, the whole time the matter is so special in the place where he is in the situation that he has lost one son and another has ruined his life,” Hein Børe told NTB.

She is impressed with how they handled the situation.

– It’s a terribly difficult situation. That’s it for all concerned. I am impressed with how they managed to appear in court today and give detailed explanations.
