A minor landslide prompted more homes to evacuate in central Oslo on Saturday. All evacuees can return home.
It was 12:20 pm on Saturday when the police received a report of a landslide that had penetrated the wall of a house in Telthusbakken, in central Oslo.
– We were also inside the caller’s house and saw the damage. No one has yet been reported to have been carried away by the landslide, operations manager Vidar Pedersen tells VG.
Geotechnicians have surveyed the site and assessed that all evacuees can return to their homes again.
– A geotechnician was on site and inspected the area in question. The assessment that has been made is that everyone can move again, Pedersen tells VG.
People whose wall came down on Saturday can also return home, but are asked to remain in certain parts of the house.
– This is not due to the danger of new landslides, but to the technicalities of the house.
The police indicated that around 20 homes were evacuated, but it was later corrected to make four homes.
Telthusbakken is located in the St. Hanshaugen district and is dominated by wooden houses.
Police do not yet have an overview of the size of the landslide, but have received estimates from the fire service of between 15 and 20 cubic meters.
