Several countries in Europe have introduced the quarantine or denial of entry for Norway – VG

Infection rates stabilized in Norway this summer after the March / April big wave. But in recent weeks, the numbers have started to rise again.

In five EU / EEA countries, Norwegians must be quarantined upon arrival, or simply not enter.

It shows a review that VG has made of the European quarantine requirements.

Norwegians traveling to Lativa or Estonia must be quarantined for 14 days. Belgium It also has quarantine for Norwegians, but only for people traveling from Oslo and Viken County.

During this week, Norway has also acknowledged the demand from Finland and Lithuania, but for now, travelers from Norway do not need to be quarantined.

Several countries to which you can travel freely

The Norwegian government has opted for a stricter line than most other countries in Europe. They have set a limit to the infection pressure in a country. If the number rises above this, the earth turns red. And then you have to be quarantined when you get home from there.

But most other countries in Europe have also set limits and criteria on whether Norwegians and other visitors should be quarantined when they arrive there.

You can travel freely to France, Sweden, Portugal and Spain, no matter how high the infection is in Norway:

The EU wants all EU / EEA countries to have the same requirements for each other. But that is not the case currently.

• Without restrictions: Countries in purple allow unrestricted travel from all EEA and Schengen countries. Therefore, you don’t need to be quarantined if you travel here.
• Has criteria: Countries in blue has established specific criteria and limits for when travelers from other countries are released from quarantine. The height of this boundary varies greatly.

These countries are in quarantine

Following the increase in infection in Norway in recent weeks, Norway has filed lawsuits with several countries.

All in red on the map here, they have restrictions like quarantine or denial of entry for people coming from Norway:

• Island: Iceland considers all other countries as risk countries and requires quarantine and / or testing of all visitors.
• Finland: Finland now does not allow leisure travel from Norway. Business trips and other necessary trips are allowed, but they recommend 14 days of voluntary quarantine if you are coming from Norway. As of September 19, Finland will increase the limit on quarantine requirements. But if the infection pressure in Norway remains at the same level as now, it will still be above Finland’s requirements again.
• Hungary: On September 1, Hungary made all countries “red”. This means that they do not let anyone in who does not have a “special reason” for going there. Hungarian citizens and other people with permanent residence in the country must be quarantined for 14 days or screened twice.
• Belgium: Recommend testing and quarantine for everyone coming from Oslo and Viken.
• Latvia / Estonia: He wants everyone who comes from Norway to isolate themselves, with a 14-day quarantine.
• Lithuania: This week, Lithuania changed the requirement from 16 cases of infection per 100,000 inhabitants to 25 and removed the quarantine obligation for Norway. On Tuesday, however, Norway is above the new requirement. Only on Monday next week Lithuania will make a new evaluation.
