– At 4:20 p.m. I received a phone call that Nordre Follo has 40 new cases of the English variant of the coronavirus, says municipal chief physician Kerstin Johnsen Myhrvold.
The municipality still does not know how the mutated virus reached them. Analysis of positive coronary tests continues to determine the prevalence of infection.
– The contagion situation in the municipality is extremely vulnerable and uncertain. The situation can change very quickly, says Johnsen Myhrvold.
– I ask the affected neighbors for patience. We are in this difficult situation together, says Mayor Hanne Opdan.
74 cases related to nursing homes
The outbreak began at Langhus Boog Servicesenter, where two people died from the mutated virus.
The 40 new cases of mutations are not necessarily related to this outbreak.
74 common positive coronary tests are associated with the flare. The municipal chief says there is a high probability that these people are infected with the mutated virus.
The municipality has also found cases of the mutated virus with other routes of contagion other than asylum.
Most cases have a known route of transmission.
The 40 cases that have now been discovered through analysis by the FHI laboratory add to the 25 that are already known.
– The municipality does a very good job, and it does a thorough and good job and works quickly with infection detection, says the director of the Line Vold department of the National Institute of Public Health in a press release.
It is expected to find more cases with the English variant in the municipality. The mutation is more contagious and the outbreak continues.
– Most cases can be linked to known infection routes, but mapping work is still in progress. There are some cases that as of now have no known connection to the outbreak, says Line Vold.
New cases change the assessment of the seriousness of the situation.
You want to do the corona test again
The municipality warns that more people can be called to be crowned again.
– It is to clarify if the virus was a mutated variant, says municipal chief doctor Kerstin Johnsen Myhrvold.
You don’t know how many people this applies to now.
– This is part of a larger survey. There’s no concern that they’ll get sicker or something similar, Myhrvold says.
The municipal chief believes that the outbreak began already at Christmas.
You have been concerned about the import infection
There is a lot of construction activity at Nordre Follo. This work is largely done by foreign workers.
This includes work on the Follo line. The municipality also has a parking space for trucks and heavy transport at Fugleåsen in Langhus.
– We are concerned about the infection of imports and have sent our concerns about it to the authorities, says Mayor Hanne Opdan to NRK.
