The transfer concerned a description of whether Finance Minister Jan Tore Sanner (H) could instruct Norges Bank in the appointment of Nicolai Tangen as the new director of the Petroleum Fund.
It appears in Sanner’s reply to Kari Elisabeth Kaski (SV) at the Storting. The reply is not yet public, but Aftenposten / E24 has received it from the ministry.
“My assessment is that the costs associated with the report are funds well spent,” Sanner writes in his response.
I had Tangen as a client
The appointment of Nicolai Tangen as the new director of the Petroleum Fund was heard at the Storting in August. While the Finance Committee discussed the matter, there was uncertainty about Sanner’s ability to intervene on the matter.
It was then that he went to Arntzen de Besche for an evaluation. They also had to assess whether central bank governor Øystein Olsen had violated the Central Bank Law.
The allocation assigned to the private company was highly criticized. They had had Nicolai Tangen as a client three months earlier. In addition, his conclusion was criticized by other professionals.
In the end, Sanner ordered a new evaluation of the legal department of the Ministry of Justice.
– Worth criticizing

– Not a negligible sum, he thinks.

– It’s reprehensible, adds Kaski.
Sanner’s response to Kaski comes a month after the question.

Hadia Tajik, chairman of the committee, was also not impressed.
