LILLESTRØM (VG) (LSK Women – RBK Women 0-1) Rosenborg Women has gone from Mediterranean danger to title candidate after the name change. In the LSK room, they took the biggest scalp of the season, so far.

Already in the first round of the series, it was possible to agree that a paradigm shift was in the works in the Toppserien. Trondheims-Ørn was used to losing a lot every time LSK Women came to visit, but like Rosenborg, they captured a point in the first match of the series.

On the road, things should be even better.

Lillestrøm appeared to hijack the lead after the goalless first round. Then they made a nasty mistake on their own half.

LSK midfielder Nora Eide Lie did not notice the pressure from Elin Sørum, lost the ball and gave the RBK player a free kick into his own goal.

Sørum kept his cool after a couple of soles and put the cash ball into goal behind Ida Norstrøm.

– There is nothing better than that. We entered the season with the desire to do better than last year, but it is a very special season, with more pressure as we now call ourselves Rosenborg, says the winner of the match after the match.

It seemed to be a quiet ending to the match for a long time, but LSK really put pressure towards the end and created a series of great opportunities in the final minutes. The ball crashed into the post after a chaotic sequence on the field, when Eide Lie was denied.

Rosenborg finally escaped the horror and beat LSK Women for only the second time. “The victory is deserved,” says Steinar Lein, Rosenborg’s coach, and is supported by rival teams.

– It’s our fault we lost today. There’s no question about that, says Lillestrøm’s Mimmi Löfwenius Veum.

Rosenborg had the clear initiative for most of the first half. Julie Blakstad, who was ready for Lillestrøm last season but stopped on loan, was clearly more willing to shoot.

The biggest chances, however, were top scorer Marit Clausen (7 goals so far) and national team forward Lisa-Marie Karlseng Utland who managed, but both struggled with accuracy on their headshots.

Lillestrøm, on the other hand, masterfully defended after two defeats in a row and had two 3-pointers on the back before the main match against Rosenborg.

However, there was little self-confidence in the offensive game. Mimmi Löfwenius Veum led the offense through the yellow jerseys, but created no real danger until the game clock approached 90 minutes.

LSK Women have won eleven of the last twelve women’s side titles in Norwegian football and have been a regular fixture in the knockout rounds of the Champions League.

They have now lost three matches in this year’s Toppserien, including against gold rivals Vålerenga and Lillestrøm.

– We have to take into account the fact that we have such a season from time to time, in which there are more problems, as has happened lately, says LSK coach Hege Riise.

Rosenborg has yet to lose a Toppserie match since the name change.

P.S! Vålerenga tops the table and meets the top team Sandviken 16.30. You can follow that game on VG Live.
