TRONDHEIM (VG) (Rosenborg-Stabæk 2-2) Rosenborg advanced to their fifth win in a row, but weak Stabæk destroyed what would have been a perfect gift from substitute coach Trond Henriksen to Åge Hareide, who will take over from 1 of September.
Edvard Tagseth (19) had to intervene as midfield when Per Ciljan Skjelbred was injured a few games before the comeback. On Saturday, the 20-year-old from Frosta signed a new contract with Rosenborg until 2024.
– He gave a little push towards the game. It was a great moment for me, he tells VG.

On Sunday afternoon, the former Liverpool player “celebrated” the contract to score his first elite league goal.
– I’ve been waiting a while. It’s my first senior goal so it was good to finally get it.
– a little disappointing
Coupled with Torgeir Børven’s penalty two minutes into the second half, it seemed to be enough to secure Rosenborg’s fourth consecutive victory in the Eliteserien and Stabæk’s seventh league match without a win. But five minutes before the end, Oliver Edvardsen ruined the fun of the Norwegian center. Therefore, share points.
– There were two unnecessary setbacks. Only after a change of address before we give away a completely unnecessary penalty. We finished the game well, and after 2-2 we pressed and went for the three points. We weren’t that far off so I might be a bit disappointed that we didn’t win, Stabæk coach Jan Jönsson tells VG after what was the seventh league match without a win.
Tired RBK
Rosenborg advanced to the European Cup a few days ago after beating Breidablik. That game may have cost two points in the series.
– They looked tired especially in the second half, after he was good in the first. There were great distances between the layers. I think running in the team with the extra game of the European Cup has complicated it. They seem to have noticed today, says Åge Hareide, who will take over as Rosenborg’s coach from 1 September.
Hareide takes over as coach from Trond Henriksen, who was able to finish his coaching job with five consecutive wins.
– If you get tired in the body, you also get tired in the head. I think the second round against Breidablik required more effort than we anticipated. I thought we could keep it when we took the lead 2-1, but when they tied at 2-2 it seemed like we didn’t have much to think about a final sprint, Henriksen tells VG.
– In both 1-0 and 2-1, I think we should grab the ball and control a lot more. They finish with a lot of Hawaiian soccer and they win a lot of second balls. This is not the first time it has happened and we must learn from it. We will manage the matches in Lerkendal for ninety minutes, says Tagseth.

Before the game, Rosenborg coach Trond Henriksen said he expected his team to control events on the cool but perfect Lerkendal carpet. It wasn’t long before the game’s image was initially drawn.
In the record of occasions at halftime, it was 5-0, but it was with Tagseth’s goal. Together with Danish Carlo Holse, Tagseth are the only Rosenborg players to have played every game this season.
Tagseth’s shot from 16 meters passed through Stabæk captain Andreas Hanche-Olsen and completely edged goalkeeper Marcus Sandberg.
Compensation
Stabæk spent just five minutes of the second half creating more than they did in the previous 45 minutes.
Jørgen Olsen Øveraas was born on the same street for Lerkendal, but has never played for Rosenborg. The right-back was the visiting team’s best player until he was substituted, and had pinpoint precision when he put in front of the goal. Hugo Vetlesen was at least as accurate as he gracefully widened the goal 1-1.
Torgeir Børven was brought in to Rosenborg to become Rosenborg’s top scorer as a midfielder. Against Stabæk, he started as a left winger for the second straight game: he finished with three goals. Børgen came out cold from the penalty spot after striker Vetlesen unnecessarily fouled Kristoffer Zachariassen.
Judge Tommy Skjerven pointed to the penalty spot. Børven arranged the rest.
As after the 1-0 goal, Rosenborg abandoned the initiative and allowed Stabæk to enter the game again. It was fatal five minutes before the end, when Stabæk midfielder Mats Solheim joined the attack. The twelve-meter shot wasn’t particularly hard, but RBK goalkeeper Julian Faye Lund lost the ball to right-back Oliver Edvardsen, who drew the equalizer from close range.
Dinner with the players
On Sunday night, the Rosenborg players will formally meet their new coach for the first time.
– I hope to know you properly and hear what you think. He’s a great coach in Norway and he’s done well in most of the places he’s been. This will be very good, says Tagseth.
– There are some who travel on national team assignments, so I want to meet them for dinner at the barracks before they leave, to say hello. On Monday, there’s recovery training, and at the same time, there are a number of practical things for staff that need to be in place, Hareide says.
