Almost three minutes after extra time, Ronaldo was played in the area. The Portuguese finished quickly and passed the ball over the goalkeeper, but slipping on the line came Stefan Mitrovic and simply saved the ball on the line, according to the referee.
Mitrovic’s clearance ended up in the legs of Bernardo Silva, but his shot was also stopped on the line by the midfielder.
Ronaldo was very unhappy with the decision. The Portuguese first yelled at a yellow card before cursing and throwing the captain’s armband to the ground after the match. By then, he had already walked away from the game several seconds before the match was canceled, while waving his arms.

The battle for the group winner is expected to be between Portugal and Serbia. In the second group game on Saturday, Luxembourg beat Ireland 1-0 away.
