Romerike police were notified of a fire in a barn on Homledalsvegen in Nannestad at 00.11 on Monday night.
– We’ve just arrived. There must be between 50 and 60 head of cattle in the barn. There is a total overshoot and chaos on the site right now, assignment manager Andreas Paulsen in the eastern police district reported to rb.no right after the report.
The operations manager says no people are missing in connection with the fire.
– All people have been accounted for, he says.
Animal evacuation
Lars Erik Robertsen, a duty officer at the 110 interchange in the east, tells RB that firefighters began evacuating the animals and extinguishing work when they arrived at the scene with the first car at 00.18.
– It is a large barn and we have many crews in place. We’ve already removed some animals and are working to remove the rest, says Robertsen.
– Can you take out all the animals?
– It’s too early to tell, replies the foreman.
23 dairy cows rescued
At 01 o’clock the roof collapsed. It is currently unknown how many animals were rescued before it was too late. An emergency butcher is observed at the scene.
The leader of the police task force, Bjørn Christian Willersrud, says it is a separate barn with dairy cows, calves and other cattle.
– What we have an overview of now is that at least 23 dairy cows have escaped, he says.
– It burns intensely at the scene and the fire service is working with all their might to control the fire, he tells RB.
I worked hard to save the animals, then the roof came down
