The driver was an employee of Bring Trucking, part of the Bring Group, owned by Norway Post. The company’s around 400 drivers drive mainly in the Nordic countries and Western Europe, but the head office is in Slovakia, where the salary level is much lower than in the Nordic countries, reports NRK.
Emilian Jetzi and his lawyer believe that, in practice, he was stationed in Denmark and should therefore be paid according to Danish salary levels and not the 5,000 kroner he received as a Slovak basic salary.
Before each work period, Jetzi was transferred by minibus from Romania to Bring Trucking’s offices in Slovakia. He was there for a few hours before he was taken to Kastrup, near Copenhagen, where the truck was waiting for him.
The late payment requirement for wages, pensions and vacations totals around NOK 1.8 million.
– Jetzi was not stationed in Denmark. He drove both in Sweden, Norway and Germany as well as in Denmark. It was not part of the Danish job market, says Bring Trucking lawyer Thomas Ryhl.
He believes that Jetzi has received more than the Slovak minimum wage, as well as money for subsistence while he was in the Nordic countries.
