Review: “Star Wars” – NRK – We review “Star Wars” song by song

TELEVISION: Tonight the participants sang list pop and stadium rock. After the votes were counted, it was Vegard Bjørsmo who threw down the shorter glass. Next Saturday are the semifinals.

We go over tonight’s broadcast song by song. Read the reviews below here.

List Pop (hits of the year):

We revise

Vegard: «Don’t start now» – Dua Lipa

Is there anyone who can take on the role of a flamboyant pop star? It’s Vegard. At least it has a blaze and energy in abundance. However, vocally it feels somewhat flat. There is a lack of pondus in the verses and the bridge; I think the choice of song limits a bit what his singing ability shows. But overall, it is perfectly well delivered by the great talent from the North. If Vegard continues tonight, he must be smarter with his song choices.

We revise

Sandra: What does love have to do with it? – Kygo, Tina Turner

It’s not just having to fill the shoes of one of the most personality pop singers of all time. To be successful, you have to sing for the ceiling to clear or be able to add something completely unique to the song. Sandra is not entirely comfortable singing in the lower registers, something that goes beyond beat and gains. It is something completely different when given the opportunity to To put on at the opposite end of the register. In other words, it doesn’t sit at the beginning, but rises correspondingly above the middle. When it comes to wearing the brace and lungs, Sandra is raw.

We revise

Knut Marius: “Someone you loved” – Lewis Capaldi

Knut Marius once again chooses a song to regreat emotions. You probably can’t blame him for that either, all the time dominating that guy at his fingertips. But we already know, so it could have been fun to hear him make a more radical decision. The small reservation here is not about Knut Marius not delivering, because he does it as he pleases. Communication and technique are a great environment, but do something weird next time. Because both one and two more shipments are guaranteed.

We revise

Ingeborg: “Someone” – Dagny

It’s a lot of fun that Ingeborg chooses a Norwegian song here. It’s important to show that we actually have a more than rising Norwegian pop scene. Dagny writes songs with a significant x factor and witty, contagious melodies. Ingeborg, in turn, manages to convey this exoticism with great fullness. Their sound, of course, suits the task, charisma, and dance skills as well. It is about being natural, but at the same time insistent and present. It looks and sounds so easy.

Stadium skirt:

We revise

Vegard: “When You Were Young” – The Killers

Singing The Killers is challenging in many ways. Vocalist Brandon Flowers carries a lot of weight, while also having a melancholic quality to his voice that is not easy to copy. Basically, this should be something Vegard could suit – he’s already shown that he has many facets to his voice even though he’s relatively inexperienced. Vegard, however, faces a couple of challenges along the way. First, it doesn’t hit the high notes. He works very hard, but again the show factor becomes what should cover the places where he gurgles vocally.

(Note! Due to a glitch, this fix was left out with a single die for a few minutes.)

We revise

Sandra: “You shook me all night” – AC / DC

Do we have our own Joan Jett? Of course, it’s a futile task to challenge Brian Johnson’s whiskey voice in AC / DC, so here you have to find your own solution to the challenge. Sandra does it quite well. He has a nice crack in the clear voice, which would otherwise be quite brilliant. Also, he manages to loosen up and have fun with the song. It’s not the most groundbreaking moment Sandra has provided in “Star Wars,” but it was fun and, well, quite liberating to watch her be so casual.

We revise

Knut Marius: “Run to the Hills” – Iron Maiden

Basically this should be a good clean for Knut Marius. It has both lungs and register. The challenge is that it should not turn to parody. It can easily become too vibrato if you’re not careful. Knut Marius is dangerously close on the bridge, but he recovers when he plants the choir right in your middle floor and the devilish violence is as it should be. It’s kind of a traveler’s leap here, but it’s no wonder Knut Marius lands rock solid at the upper tonal peak. And luckily he has a little glint in his eyes on the road too.

We revise

Ingeborg: «Rock The Night» – Europe

For a “pope”, Ingeborg is: she makes everything she plays sound like that’s what she usually does. At least he’s not ashamed of Joey Tempest. By energy and by voice. Classic rock sounds from the first to the last note. Although Ingeborg says she hardly knows what rock is, it certainly doesn’t look like that. We’ll be back to “Rock the Night” on the charts soon, right?

The case is being updated.
