One outbreak is associated with two weddings held in Oslo. Now Bjørn Guldvog says it may be relevant to fine-tune private collections further.

On Monday, 46 people tested positive and around 300 close contacts were quarantined after two weddings were organized in Oslo just over a week ago. Four districts, Alna, Stovner, Nordstrand and Søndre Nordstrand are affected.

Conservatives in Oslo want drastic measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, and Afshan Rafiq (H) said yesterday that it will close for weddings and other private parties in Oslo.

– We agree with Ashfan Rafiq that it is important to focus measures where the infection occurs. It may be relevant to further toughen private meetings, health director Bjørn Guldvog tells VG on Monday night.

– The device for such an adjustment is now being discussed.

– Follow the infection control rules

In an interview with NRK Dagsrevyen, Rafiq claimed that the measure aims to reduce infection, especially in the districts east of the capital. Rafiq points out that many have been infected at private parties and especially at weddings.

– The figures show that drastic measures are needed here to gain control. Especially in the Stovner district, we see that it is quite serious, says a concerned Rafiq.

Where people fail to comply with infection control measures, strong action must be taken, he believes.

The chief infection control doctor in the municipality of Oslo, Frode Hagen, confirms that both parties were organized in connection with the same wedding, which took place over several days in two different venues: Dream and Utsikten.

– We have followed the infection control rules to the letter, Sharjil Javaid, general manager of Dream Banquet Rooms in Holmlia, tells VG.

He confirms to VG that they rented a venue for a wedding party on Sunday, October 25.

– All guests received face masks by the guards at the gate. There was no dance. The Antibac stations were located at the entrance and inside the premises. In addition, we have a television screen in the room where the rules of quarantine and infection control are reported, he says.

Today’s measurements

On Monday of last week, the government introduced new measures at the national level following an increase in infection in the country. These should last until December.

  • In private homes, you should have no more than five guests other than the household members. If all the guests are from the same household, there may be several. This means that two families can meet even if they have many children.
  • Everyone should be with fewer people for a week to reduce the number of close contacts.
  • From 200 to 50 at private events outside the home.
  • Today’s access to have 600 people present at outdoor events is limited to events where everyone in the audience sits in fixed seats.

Here, the government reduced the number of people at private events outside the home from 200 to 50.

In Oslo, more stringent measures were also introduced last week, where, among other things, the number of participants in all indoor events without a fixed seat was limited to 50 to 20 people.
