According to the state budget, equestrian sports avoid a NOK 100 million fee, but Rikstoto’s boss believes that it does not help enough when there are new loss limits for New Year’s horse games.

– We are very happy that the full fee will be removed, but it will only partially offset the decrease we will have when the new loss limits are introduced on January 1, says the CEO. Camilla Garmann in Norsk Rikstoto.

– We expect 20 percent less will be transferred to equestrian sports, even if the tax is removed, Garmann continues with VG.

20 percent corresponds to NOK 100 million, if we look at the figures for 2019, the last “normal year”.

Garmann highlights that the forecast for the 2020 crown year is lower, and that equestrian sports based on these figures will lose 85 million in 2021.

The problem with Rikstoto is that they have a small number of important players who represent a significant part of the turnover. However, the horse game will now have rules similar to Norsk Tipping, which has a loss limit for its players of a maximum of 20,000 crowns per month.

The state budget for 2021 is primarily a positive reading for Norwegian sports, it is stated in a press release from the Norwegian Sports Confederation.

– This is positive. We experience that the authorities want to satisfy the constant need of sport for stimulation schemes that ensure that sporting activity can be maintained, to the greatest extent possible. It will also be important to take into account the organizational ties that have so far been left out of the existing schemes, says sports president Berit Kjøll, who also believes that it is important that VAT on facilities is also fully offset in 2021.
