– The infection spreads. What worries us is that we cannot trace the infection well enough, says Mayor Jan Oddvar Skisland (Labor).

On Friday, the municipality of Kristiansand reported 38 new cases of infection in the last 24 hours.

That is a record.

– They are probably lying a bit, the new numbers. It has something to do with the fact that we have started shipping all the samples to Oslo. We had abnormally low numbers yesterday and very high numbers today, explains Skisland.

Many with unknown infection routes

Seven of those infected have an unknown route of transmission.

– It is a demanding situation for the infection monitoring team, says the municipality in a press release.

– We have between 20 and 30 percent that we cannot find out where they have been infected. Now we are betting that people follow the rules we have established, says the mayor.

Expect new infection control measures in the municipality on Wednesday.

Six of the infected go to the Torvmoen kindergarten in Søgne, says municipal chief doctor Styrk Fjærtoft Vik.

So far in February, 389 people have been infected in Kristiansand.

In the last two weeks, the municipality has more than 200 infected per 100,000 inhabitants.

This is the highest number in the country.
